How to write a Resolution

A GOP resolution needs 4 parts:

A TITLE stating what the resolution is about
(optional) WHEREAS sentences which give the background and reason for the proposal
RESOLVED which states what should be done
and a statement as WHO SUBMITTED IT and the author(s) precinct number. It is also good to have a place to write the date of adoption.

NOTE:PLEASE READ THE TX STATE PARTY PLATFORM BEFORE YOU WRITE A RESOLUTION AS IT MIGHT ALREADY BE IN THE PLATFORM. IT IS HELPFUL IT YOU INDICATE THE SECTION THAT IT NEEDS TO GO INTO. IF YOU ARE ADDING TO A PLANK ALREADY IN THE PLATFORM, PLEASE REFERENCE THE PLANK NUMBER. IF YOU ARE AFFIRMING YOUR DESIRE THAT THE PLANK REMAIN, PLEASE LABEL THE RESOLUTION AS AFFIRMING A CERTAIN PLANK.
THE PARTY NOW HAS A RESOLUTION BUILDER ON THE STATE SITE here, BUT YOU WILL NEED TO PRESENT IT AT THE PRECINCT CONVENTION. THE STATE WILL SEND YOU YOUR RESOLUTION BACK TO YOU FOR SUBMISSION.
For the precinct or SD conventions,
it is best if the resolution be typed,
and not handwritten,
and the presenter have several copies of the resolution.

The following is an example (of the long form):
(1-TITLE) Resolution : Prohibiting use of ESG scores for individuals and organizations by banks and other financial institutions
(2-) WHEREAS, Governor Abbott signed into law in November 2021 a law banning state investments in businesses that cut ties with the oil and gas industry.because of ESG scores AND
WHEREAS, the Word Economic Forum, Bank of America, and other agencies and companies are using the use of environmental, social, and governance standards (ESGs) to evaluate not only which entites get economic and social aid and freedom, but also individuals and organizations, AND
WHEREAS, the practice of discrimination against any Texas inhabitants (individuals, associations and companies) through use of their social credit or environmental, social justice, and governmental score is a matter of state concern,and that discrimination based on such scores not only threatens oil and gas, but the rights and proper privileges of all Texas inhabitants and menaces the institutions and foundation of a free democratic state and threatens the peace, order, health, safety and general welfare of the state and its inhabitants, AND
WHEREAS, only state and local action can stop Big Tech, banks, and others from implementing the Great Reset through ESG score.
(3-) THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Texas law be extended to prohibit the use of ESG score to all banks and other financial institutions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Republican lawmakers are urged to support this change.
