Your view of current and future tax levels:  In Duncanville, residential properties, which make up 47% of the city’s land area, contribute to ad valorem taxes. However, only about 10% of the land is dedicated to retail, commercial, office, and industrial uses—sectors that not only add to property taxes but also have the potential to generate sales tax, bolstering the City’s general fund. Encouraging non-residents to support our local businesses can increase revenue without overburdening our taxpayers. Yet, this effort is hampered by our underutilized retail centers, which, though dated, hold great potential for revitalization to attract vibrant, local businesses. Our goal is to retain as much sales tax revenue as possible within Duncanville and to elevate our local businesses to the status of regional attractions.
Fiscal responsibility is a cornerstone of governance at City Hall. Recent years have seen a high turnover rate in leadership positions, particularly within the Fiscal Services department. Establishing stability in this department is crucial to ensuring ongoing fiscal responsibility and accountability.
Things you would like to see accomplished  if elected:  I would like to see the City focus upon achieving the goals and objectives outlined within our Comprehensive Masterplan and Parks master Plan. Each of these documents should be the guide for improving the quality of life for our citizens and residents in Duncanville. These documents touch upon economic development; resiliency and vitality of our current housing stock; public safety; parks; trails and neighborhood amenities.  In addition, I would like to see stability within our Civic leadership. In the past years we have seen transitions in many of our City Department heads and this needs to be addressed in order to advance the work that we seek out to do together.
What are the good things being done that you would like to see continued? Our Civic Leaders have done a good job at celebrating our local leaders, this local acknowledgment and recognition is definitely a good thing. In addition the City of Duncanville excels in planning events and bringing the community together. For a City of our size I believe that this is done rather well.
